Weekly Encouragement and First Advent Sunday - December 1 - December 7, 2024
Hello friend/brother or sister in Christ,
I hope and pray you are well.
It is getting very tough to live in these perilous times. There is a war going on in my husband’s home country Georgia where we have been living for 8 years. It’s a war from the government that is led by wicked rulers and going against the people of Georgia. There is so much violence. People are demonstrating in the streets to fight for their rights. Policemen are kicking people in their faces with their boots until they are severely hurt. The enemy is truly working in this country.
But Jesus called them to him and said, 'You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant. Matthew 20:25-26 ESV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 ESV
During these very tough times we need Jesus more than ever. He is our only hope. While everything around us is falling apart, people are getting more wicked, and nations are going against nations, we need to cling to Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who defeated the powers and authorities.
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. Colossians 2:15 ESV
I want to wish you a Blessed First Advent Sunday knowing that God is always with us. He is Emmanuel - God with us.

"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means, God with us."
Encouragement:
As we begin this season of Advent, we are reminded of the incredible gift of God’s presence with us. Emmanuel, meaning "God with us," is a powerful truth that changes everything. In the midst of our struggles, joys, and daily lives, God chose to come near to us in the person of Jesus. He is not distant or far off, but walks with us, sharing in our experiences and offering His peace.
This Advent, let’s pause and reflect on the gift of His presence. No matter where we are or what we face, we are never alone. Jesus came to be with us, to guide us, and to fill our hearts with hope. As we await His return, we can trust that He is with us every step of the way.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being Emmanuel - God with us. As we celebrate Your coming, help us to feel Your presence in every moment. May this Advent season remind us of Your love and nearness, and may we share that love with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
